Primary School extra-curriculum

Team DMPS

Fostering team work and collaboration is an important part of DMPS school life. All children are allocated to a team when they join us: Dragon, Mantis, Phoenix and Snake. In their teams, pupils have the opportunity to work together on projects and compete in Sports Day. They are also awarded team points throughout the week linked to the school’s golden rules.

After School Activities

We run a range of after-school activities based on the needs and interests of students. Following a parental questionnaire at the start of the year, we organize workshops such as Homework Help, Phonics, Sports, Drama, Art and Craft and Putonghua.

Additional Learning Needs

Should a pupil require additional support, because they are finding parts of the curriculum difficult or because they are working at a faster pace than their peers, we will do our best to provide additional support. We have fantastic support staff, whom we use to establish structured programmes for individuals or small groups in and out of class.

English as an Additional Language

Whereas, we are an English medium school we strive to meet the learning needs of children with English as a second language. In class, we make learning relevant and meaningful, with plenty of opportunities for speaking, listening, role play and drama. Targeted intervention programmes, one-on-one support, after-school activities and specialist resources, ensure our second language learners can soon become fluent.

Eco Monitors

Our eco monitors work towards making our school as energy efficient as possible. Eco monitors are also responsible for promoting initiatives such as Meatless Monday and local community events, such as tree planting and beach clean-ups.

Special Events

With many special events at DMPS, there is never such a thing as a ‘normal’ week. We pride ourselves on actively supporting charities, such as Send a Cow, Room to Read and Operation Santa Claus, as well as increasing global awareness through days such as Breast Cancer Awareness and International World Peace day. Curriculum enrichment weeks, such as Community Week and Book Week, school plays and sharing assemblies help to make life at DMPS engaging and rewarding.

Celebrating Success

Encouraging children to reach for the stars and take pride in their work are integral to our supportive school culture. Each week, children are awarded certificates for demonstrating our school rules; being respectful, being responsible and trying their best and Team Points for doing things that make us proud.
